DR ARAVIND SRINIVASAN, Director Projects, Aravind Eye Care System, is regarded to be a high volume surgeon. His management approach is innovative. In addition, he ensures extraordinary patient-focus.
Dr graduated from PGS Institute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore, in 1992. He completed his residency in ophthalmology leading to a Masters in Ophthalmology from the Institute and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Madurai, in 1996. Thereafter, in 2000, he earned his MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, specializing in Strategy.
After his management education, Dr Aravind served as Administrator of Eye Care System. During this phase, he effectively facilitated customer-supplier relationships with both external and internal customers. Apart from patient-focus, Dr ensured harmony in the organization culture.
In 2011, Dr Aravind commenced serving as Director Projects. He serves as a trainer, coach, counselor, facilitator and recognizer for replicating the ARAVIND WAY at new projects. The primary focus of the WAY is to provide high quality eye care, for all hospital services, to the less privileged citizens of India. It is a business model that combines business discipline with compassion.
Aravind Eye Care System has evolved into a large eye care provider. Currently, it has 5 tertiary care centres, 6 community clinics, and 61 primary eye care centres across Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Last year, over 40 lakh outpatients were screened and over 4 lakh surgeries were performed. Half the patients received eye care services free, or at subsidized charges. This phenomenal growth is traceable to the strategy authored by Dr Aravind.
All this is not enough. Dr Aravind is now in an expansion mode. New and expansion projects are mushrooming across Tamil Nadu. All these projects are directed to deliver high quality eye care to the needy.
Dr Aravind is also a Director of Managed Eye Care Services. This strategic arm of the parent organization addresses the basic issues relating to eye care in under-served regions. The services offered are in partnership with Sun Pharma Group in Gujarat, and Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation in Rajasthan. At all times building relationships.
